The very last day...

Today is the very last day ever that Bianca will be 5 years old. Today is the last day ever that she could count her age on one hand.

She is so excited for tomorrow, she simply cannot wait to turn 6. Of course I wish she could stay 5 for just a little longer because she is growing up so very fast. We are not having a big party for her tomorrow (as she already had a party with her friends), but instead she requested breakfast in bed (bacon and eggs) and nachos for supper and then after supper we'll have some cake, balloons and of course... presents!

Happy Birthday Bianca!
I hope you really enjoy your bacon and eggs in bed.
Being 6 is such a special age. I still remember when I was 6, and my Mother always used to tell me a poem called "When I am 6" and I would feel so proud of being six...

When I was one, I was just begun.
When I was two, I was nearly new.
When I was three, I was hardly me.
When I was four, I was not much more.
When I was five, I was just alive.
But now that I'm six I am clever as clever. I want to stay six now for ever and ever.

Have a wonderful day Bianca!
Lots of love from Bridget, Colin, Griffin, Peter and Enzo.

Almost-congratulations!

I frequently find myself wondering what Woutertjie would've been like if he never had to deal with cancer. I guess you get those moments too.

6 is a whole lot different than 5, isn't it? It is like turning 26. When you are 25 you are still allowed to do irresponsible things because you are still practically a teenager, but when you are 26 you are almost 30 and have to be all grown-up. Personally I am not looking forward to counting my children's ages on more than one hand. They grow up way too quickly.

Lots of love!
