It's not that I'm counting down or anything, but...

Today exactly in 1 month's time we'll be done with treatment. By this time on the 11th of September, Bianca would have taken her very last Mercaptopurine tablet (hopefully for ever). Today in exactly 1 month from now Bianca will have been timed after supper for her chemo medicines for the very last time because by the next day she won't have to wait 2 hours after supper with no eating and drinking so that she can have her evening chemo. It will be a Friday evening and so we'll have a great start to our weekend.

Now just to clarify - when I say "done with treatment" it will be the chemo and steroids we'll be done with and the 3 times a day acyclovir tablet as far as I know. The co-trimoxazole (the antibiotic we do twice a week two times a day) will continue for around 6 months as they will wait for her lymphocytes to recover. It is only then that Bianca will be at a lower risk of developing a particularly risky form of pneumonia. Right now her lymphocytes are sitting around 0.22 or something and they'll want it to be above 1 or something like that. And I understand the monthly IVIG transfusions will continue for around 3 months. But no more chemo and no more steroids.

Wow, so incredibly unreal...

I'd be counting down, Lea. Why not! Can't wait to celebrate with you all when the day comes. Thank you for the blog nomination too. You've helped us all out so much.
