I have to keep reminding myself that we only have 1 more day left of being on treatment. It is such a weird concept and yet in some respects I don't think things will really feel all that different. For one Bianca will still get her Acyclovir 3 times a day. Not sure for how long, probably until her lymphocytes have recovered well enough. In a way it's not too bad still being on the Acyclovir as it does offer some protection against chickenpox and Bianca will still be at big risk if she got chickenpox. She will also still get her co-trimoxazole every weekend probably for the next 3 to 6 months until her lymphocytes are sufficiently recovered. Until then she will still have a higher risk to develop some or the other risky type of pneuomonia and her IVIG transfusions will still carry on for around 3 months. Bianca will still need to see her doctor initially every 4 - 6 weeks for the first 6 months, thereafter every 6 - 8 weeks for the next year or two, then once every 3 months when we get to year 3, twice a year when we get to year 4 and then once we get to 5 years off treatment Bianca will need to see her doctor until she is an adult.
But one aspect that will feel very different will be not to have to do chemo at night on an empty tummy anymore. We'll have more flexibility with meal times and going out and so on.
Today Bianca asked "when will I be done with cancer?" and the short answer I guess is "tomorrow night", but in reality, I guess she'll never really be done with cancer. She'll always have to be aware of a range of things, she'll always have doctors visits and blood tests, but we hope and trust and pray that tomorrow night will be the last chemo she'll ever need.

If only there were a simple answer. When will we ever be done with the things that test us in life? I think the answer is never, once you've had an experience, no matter what it is, it changes you, its there forever and always, these things may not be as painful but that doesn't mean the scar it left won't be visible!
Congratulations to Bianca and the WHITES!!! Today is finally here! Hoping you and your family have a wonderful weekend celebrating. So many people from many different parts of the world are celebrating with you and are so happy for you. Including me!! YAY
