Bianca didn't go to school today as she has a bit of a persistent cough, so we'll see how she feels tomorrow morning. Hopefully it goes away soon!
Other than that, things are great this side!
At the beginning of June 2007, Bianca was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia or ALL for short. This was approximately 2 weeks before she turned 4. The diagnosis turned our world upside down and we were completely devastated. Not only did we have to make a lot of adjustments and changes, but we did not have the luxury of time to make those decisions, it was simply a matter of jump in and do what we needed to do.
This blog is about Bianca and her treatment as well as some of the things the family gets up to.
We are constantly amazed at the courage Bianca shows throughout the process and how she just does what she needs to without complaining. She is just a typical four year old who loves being a big sister to Caitlyn (born February 2007).
It is a bit of a bitter-sweet experience: Every day that we get through is a day that we won, it is a day closer to the final day of treatment, but it was also a day that we lost, a day where Bianca couldn’t do what she used to do or perhaps couldn’t see a friend because of her low levels.
But we made the decision that we would remain positive and that we would run this race one step at a time.

Your new lives sound like they will be just as hard to become accustomed to as the old life with chemo routines, although they will be filled with much more fun and spontaneous adventures. Enjoy :)
Glad to hear all is going well!!!!
I bet Bianca enjoyed not having to be timed!
Great journey & thank you for sharing what you have so far. I look forward to the pictures of your paua artwork. :)
Bianca - you are such a brave wee girl. You have shown all the adults what real bravery means.
Lea, that did make me laugh about the clock-watching over dinner. It's hard to get out of habits like that when you have been doing it for so long.
I hope that both girls are over their colds soon. I was overjoyed (not!) to find that Pete has a cold as well this morning.
Anyway, I hope the paua masterpiece is coming along well.
Take care,
Bridget
Way to go, the good days have finally arrived, I know you appreciate the days off treatment and hope the on treatment time will fade in your thoughts. Leonie spent most of last winter with colds, coughs and chesty ailments for about 6 months post chemo. Since then she has hardly had an off day and missed the swine flu despite her dad getting it ! Exhale- you did her proud.
